Obsessive Compulsive

Disorder (OCD)

Unlike traditional medical approaches, which rarely look at the brain, Brain Enhancement Center uses the most sophisticated technology to go beyond the guesswork and delve directly into the root cause for targeted intervention for OCD.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a profound mental health condition characterized by intrusive thoughts, images, or urges known as obsessions, coupled with repetitive behaviors or compulsions aimed at neutralizing the distress triggered by these obsessions. Our Integrative Wellness Brain Enhancement Center is dedicated to guiding individuals on a transformative journey, addressing the intricate interplay of obsessive thought patterns and compulsive rituals that can impact personal, interpersonal, occupational, academic, and social functioning.

Understanding OCD: Beyond the Loop of Intrusive Thoughts

While fleeting distasteful thoughts are a shared human experience, individuals with OCD face a unique challenge. For them, persistent obsessions and compulsive rituals create an endless loop within their minds, significantly affecting their daily lives. Left unattended, these patterns can become all-encompassing, hindering overall well-being.

Who Experiences OCD?

In the United States, approximately 1.2% of the population grapples with OCD. Onset typically occurs around the age of 19 to 20, though it's not uncommon for symptoms to manifest in individuals beyond their mid-30s. This condition affects both males and females equally, with boys often diagnosed at a younger age. Remarkably, 25% of boys with OCD develop symptoms before reaching the age of 10.

Unveiling Common OCD Symptoms: A Holistic Perspective

Obsessions in OCD are recurring, unwanted thoughts, impulses, or mental images that can be senseless, frightening, or repulsive. These thoughts often trigger anxiety or disgust, compelling individuals to make efforts to suppress or resist them. However, attempting to control these obsessions paradoxically strengthens their grip.

A Holistic Approach to OCD Well-being

At our Integrative Brain Enhancement Center, we recognize that addressing OCD requires a holistic approach. We go beyond traditional methods, exploring innovative strategies tailored to each individual's unique needs. When taking a qEEG, we can often see the area of the brain that is aberrant. We can see where excesses and compensatory deficiencies lie. We can see anywhere the brainwaves are locking — often causing the individual to go back, again, and again, drilling into the situation, obsession, or compulsion.

Using neurostimulation and neurofeedback we can begin to loosen the grip of the obsession and/or compulsion. Your mind will slowly begin to release the all-consuming thoughts. You will have the ability to discern real from unreal and to “shut it off.” The mind becomes more quiet and becomes more efficient at managing all issues.

At our Integrative Brain Enhancement Center, we offer comprehensive complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) solutions for those navigating life challenges through our non-invasive, drug-free approach: Our Signature 3-step Solution: Baseline, Balance, Boost, enhances the Brain, Mind and Body. By combining holistic evaluations with cutting-edge technologies such as brain mapping, neurotherapy, and neuromodulation, along with other personalized interventions, we empower individuals on their journey towards mental resilience and optimal well-being. As part of our approach, we conduct a qEEG assessment to examine the brain's function, allowing us to fully understand the individual's unique neural activity patterns and identify areas that may benefit from targeted neurotherapeutic interventions. We then utilize neurotherapy to stimulate and help individuals learn to change their brainwave activity to achieve their true potential and overall wellness.
